Writer and Composer
Barb Jungr is an award-winning singer, writer, and performer, known internationally for her jazz and cabaret solo work,
particularly interpreting the works of Bob Dylan, Jacques Brel, and Leonard Cohen.
Barb is also a renowned musical theatre writer. She wrote the music and songs for the three pantomimes directed by Cal McCrystal at the Newbury Corn Exchange and was lyricist for
Birmingham Theatre Company’s “The Jungle Book” directed by Neal Foster.
Barb has worked extensively in children’s theatre. For The Little Angel Theatre, in collaboration with director Peter Glanville, she created “The Fabulous Flutterbys” (book, music, and songs), and she co-adapted and wrote songs and music for “We’re Going On A Bear Hunt.” With director Samantha Lane she co-adapted and wrote songs and music for “The Singing Mermaid,” “The Smartest Giant in Town” (which was Olivier nominated in 2023 for Best
Family Show), “Charlie Cook and His Favourite Book,” and “A Squash and a Squeeze” (2025). In 2019/2020 she was co-writer with Samantha Lane of “The Pixie and the Pudding,” for which she wrote music and songs, and she co-wrote and recorded music for the Little Angel Theatre film “Mother Christmas” (2020).
For Polka Theatre she wrote lyrics and music for “How to Hide a
Lion,” she was composer and lyricist for Michael Rosen’s
“Chocolate Cake,” which she co-adapted, and she was composer and lyricist for "Jack V Giant.”
In 2018 she was lyricist and co-writer of “Liver Birds Flying Home” for The Royal Court, Liverpool. She is the originator and lyricist for
“Soho Songs” with Benji Sperring (director) and Level 42’s Mike
Lindup (composer), and she is composer and lyricist for The
Worthing Girls which she is currently writing with author Sue Teddern.
